THE
MOST COMMON PROBLEM
Obesity has emerged as a common problem in the younger generation. The numbers range from 5 -25 % for teenagers and kids. This is more likely to persist in the later years as well. The figures for adults are more startling. More than half (65%) are overweight, and nearly one-third (30%) are obese. (source: Department of Health.) How can you avoid being overweight? Our health food store is one place where you can get basic advice and information on what kind of diet is needed for maintaining a good weight pattern. |
EFFECTS OF OBESITY According to the American Obesity Association, obesity can cut short your life span. The harmful health effects of being obese are well documented.
The Center for

CONTROL OF OBESITY Two main methods of controlling your weight are: adopting health foods, and implementing a regular exercise regime. The tips given on this site will help you decide what type of food to include in your diet. A
good exercise regime will include a minimum of half an hour of moderate
exercises such as walking, jogging, washing cars and windows, climbing
stairs, or weight training. Weight training not only burns calories, it
also builds muscle mass which in turn actively burns more calories. |
DIETING AND ITS HAZARDS There are currently two ways dieting is promoted: using controlled diet menus and diet pills. Controlled menus put a person exclusively on certain types of food and restrict the intake of others. For example taking only fruit juices. The weight lost on such courses is normally put back again after the course is over. The
diet pills cause excessive water secretion, or reduce appetite. This again
has the same drawback as restricted diet. The only effective and proven
course is to develop an exercise routine with a balanced diet. |
